Brett Michael Dennen (born Oct 28, 1979)[two] [three] [4] [5] is an American folk/pop singer and songwriter from Primal California. His seventh studio anthology, "See The World," was released in July 2021.

Early on life [edit]

Dennen grew up in Central Valley, California in a modest farm town;[6] [7] he was homeschooled.[8] He spent much of his time learning to play music. After becoming proficient in the guitar, he started to write his own songs.[nine]

Dennen learned to play guitar while attending Army camp Jack Hazard,[ citation needed ] a residential summer camp in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.[10] His army camp counselors played the music of Neil Young, John Denver, and Joni Mitchell, the same music that his parents listened to.[7] As an adolescent, he worked there as a counselor.[x] He has connected to aid the camp, performing at a fundraiser in Feb 2012 for the Jack and Buena Foundation, which now runs Camp Jack Run a risk.[11]

He attended Oakdale High School.[ citation needed ] He graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2002,[6] where he was a student at Kresge College.[ citation needed ] He majored in sociology and philosophy,[7] with goals of becoming an educator, a instructor, or a customs worker.[8] He also led numerous anti-smoking campaigns on campus, and was instrumental in removing ash trays from building entrances, which directly impacted the surge in cigarette butts existence littered around the entrances of buildings. Dennen has been a part of The Mosaic Projection, a San Francisco Bay Surface area-based nonprofit arrangement, since its inception.

In 2004, Dennen released his debut, self-titled album, Brett Dennen on an indie label, Three Angels and A Saint Records, produced by Dennen & Leslie Merical. Dennen eventually signed a record bargain with Dualtone Records.

His second album, And then Much More, includes the singles "Own't No Reason", "She's Mine" and "Darlin' Practise Non Fear".

Dennen too contributed a cover of "Private Life" to the 2006 tribute anthology Potable To Bones That Turn To Dust: A Toast To Oingo Boingo.

In an interview with American Songwriter magazine, Dennen best-selling Paul Simon's meaning influence on his music equally well as commenting that Paul Simon'south Graceland was one of his favorite albums.[12]

Dennen opened for John Mayer on his tour in 2008.

In 2008, "Darlin' Do Not Fearfulness," from So Much More than, was featured in the honour-winning independent motion-picture show Sherman's Way.

In 2009, Dennen's song "She's Mine" was featured on the soundtrack for the motion-picture show Co-ordinate to Greta; in 2010, Dennen's song "Darlin' Do Not Fear" was featured on the soundtrack for the Goggle box show Parenthood.

Dennen'south 5th album, Fume and Mirrors was released on October 22, 2013, along with its showtime unmarried, "Wild Child." On October 24, "Sugariness Persuasion" was featured on the TV show Parenthood.

"Comeback Kid (That'due south My Dog)" is the theme vocal on the NBC one-act Near A Boy. The song was also used in the series finale of Wizards of Waverly Identify.

On March 13, 2014, he appeared on episode 67 of Live From Daryl's House,[15] performing "Only Want Y'all", "Wild Child", "Correct As Pelting", "When We Were Young", "What's Gunna Happen To Us", and "Don't Mess With Karma" with Daryl Hall and his house band.

In 2016, Dennen released his sixth studio album, Por Favor.

In January 2018, Dennen released a new single, "Already Gone." That same yr, he released two EPs "simply to change it upward."[10] The EP Here'south Looking At Yous Kid?, a song that he says is about "life," was originally inspired by his loyal fans over the years, but began to include his personal speculation almost what fatherhood might be similar.[10]
